Hey everybody! Thanks in advance for the assistance and sorry if this is an obvious question!

I've been looking into dye sublimation printers to start printing trading card game playmats (essentially large mousepads). The struggle I'm facing is the playmats are 14"x28". It seems like most reasonably priced sublimation printers print @ 13"x19" at the largest.

Does anybody know of a desktop printer similar to the Epson 1430 that could print at 14"x28"?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You could look for a used 4880 or 4900. That would likely get you into the budget you're looking for.
Thanks for the response/suggestion! This model looks like a good fit for my needs. I'm pretty new to the print world—do you know if there would be a way to print 28" long with a roll or some other modification (since it states 22" is the max length)?

Thanks!

When sublimation options become available for the P800, that should be good. And then you can use 17" rolls. That is what I will be upgrading to when dyesub options are available for that.

We have made playmats for a card shop near us and used our epson1430 and GK 16x20 press with 13"x19" sheets and made the designs 14.5"x12.50 (bleed)" (think outside the box) and pressed twice on a custom cut 14.0"x24.0"x1/16" mousepad material. We do two separate images, unless you're really good and can line up a single split-image between two pressings.

We have also made higher-end playmats made of aluminum sheets and wood, folded in half with hinges and closed with velcro, with a carrying handle. And use a laser to etch a design into the wood.

But then the card shop started to get greedy, so we stopped providing for them and partnered with their competitor down the road, who are a WHOLE lot better to work with. I went in, incognito, and asked if they had custom playmats like the guys down the road and he said "unfortunately no, we don't do those".... then I asked if he would like to provide them and the rest is history. LOL

The 4880 and 4900 do not have max print length restrictions if you're using a RIP software. This also allows you to configure the printer as a dual 4 setup instead of having to do 8 colors. Or you can set it up as CMYKcm + Fluorescent Yellow and Fluorescent Pink
