Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if someone who owns a Ricoh GX7000 printer and has experience using both OEM and Sublijet-R Inks, could help answer a few questions for me.

First : Can you print normal/Photographic prints on all kinds of paper media with the Sublijet-R ink Installed?(Basically are you restricted to Sublimation only, when the sublijet ink is installed?)

Secondly: What is the quality like for the OEM Ink?, Is it suitable for printing professional marketing e.g. Brochures, Posters, Advertisements etc...?

Thirdly: Does the printer support 'Full Bleed' (Borderless) Printing capabilities for both A4 and A3.

Any help with the above would be most appreciated.
Thank you

I'm not sure you'd want to use the dye sub inks to print brochures. At 110.00 per color thats a expensive brochure ink wise.

The Ricohs have been used by some for normal inkjet heat transfers and read that they turn out very well so oem ink to print brochures should work.

But you can probably get a cheap inkjet at a offce store cheap that would work too. And if its a epson can still do inkjet transfers.

I think it is an excellent normal printer.
Sort of a good office printer.
Fast!

It does not do full bleed.

You can buy an extra bottom
tray and bypass tray making it
a flexible printer.

We at Conde have started swapping
to them for normal printing.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the comments.
I've decided the Ricoh printer isn't going to best suit my intensions at this time.
Maybe in the future I may consider doing sublimation, and the Ricoh range of printers will be first to come to mind.

I'm most likely to come back with other questions, if you don't mind assisting me again, that would be great!

Many Thanks

Depending on your brochure volumes one can save a lot of money outsourcing to a commercial printer, even compared to DIY. And the min order thresholds have become low for many commercial printers.

Proofing prints or a few "one-offs" are OK on the desktop, but compare commercial printing prices at the volume you need first before DIY.

I do business cards, brochures, flyers etc. Any volume of those goes out. I can offer customers customers "instant gratification" from my desktop, but usually just to get them started and draft approval. I have wholesale accounts at a few places and mark those up, plus my design time. From there re-order is easy.

And sub ink for regular printing. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ FUGETABOUTIT

We use a massive fleet of ricohs for our
internal printing. They are fast, high quality
and have a low cost of operation.

We have not had any failures other than
wearing them out after 100,000 plus prints.

The thread mentioned above is about

My bad, I didn't pay attention to the mention of business printing "tag" in his comment, just read his comment only. Agree this is only applicable to sublimation. My printing costs with the Ricoh GX500 and OEM inks I had were comparable to desktop laser printing.
