Hi all,
I am about to embark on a journey that many of you have already gone through. I am about to open my own business, primarily aimed at producing t-shirts, athletic uniforms and embroidery, with decals and accessories added soon after. This is a stand alone business, not a kiosk.
My question is this: Is screen printing an absolutely necessary part of this business?
This might seem like a ridiculous question, but I need clarification. I have been reading a lot about dye sublimation and the possibilities seem vastly superior to screen printing. I have found it difficult to get my head around all the information regarding 100% cotton shirts and whether or not screen printing is the only option. I have seen many posts saying it is not possible, but the vast majority were older posts from previous years.
I have also seen posts stating that is possible, using certain inks/paper/spray coating/shirt blends etc. I have see videos and websites stating that with xxx paper or xxx ink it is possible. If someone would be so kind as to give me a definitive answer on the subject, I would really appreciate it. I am looking to make my initial investment in equipment, and I would really like to know I'm purchasing the right equipment for the job.
Thank you.
