You know, when you make a 2-color sticker with vinyl, you transfer one color into the other prior to putting both colors on the substrate?

Is it possible to do this when making tees? Let's say I want to make up a bunch of 2-color designs in advance, can I weed them and then combine them in some way on a sticky carrier?

Thanks.

No you can not... you have to press first color on shirt then next color.
Why not? Please explain, I'm just getting started with vinyl so I'm curious...

I'm assuming you have to press separately if the colors overlap each other somewhere...

What if the vinyl doesn't overlap the other color... I would think you could press six colors all at the same time.. I don't see the difference in pressing six colors at once vs pressing the same exact image that you made 1 color and pressed at the same time...

Thanks,
Jeron

As I am fairly new with vinyl transfers (and have only done 1 banner with vinyl), here is my best guess:

Vinyl for banners and stickers are different from vinyl for tees. With vinyl for tees, the vinyl is not sticky while the carrier is quite sticky. The vinyl gets heat pressed which releases it from the carrier and melts it onto the tee.

Vinyl for banner and stickers is reversed -- the carrier is not sticky and the vinyl is very sticky. To combine colors, you are using a slightly sticky application tape to transfer on color vinyl onto another color's carrier.

The problem as I see it with trying this with t-shirt vinyls is that the carrier paper will stick together if you try to combine them. The vinyl won't move from one carrier to the other.

Vinyl gurus: do I have this correct or am I missing something?
