Is exposing a screen for 20 min excessive

I got a kit from silk screening supplies that included a exposure box.... I upgraded and got the 25 x 36 exposure unit with no lid. I used to have problems when I first got it... when washing out the image after exposing, a lot of emulsion would come off and ruin the screen. Found out it was due to under exposing it, so I kept increasing the time till i started getting good burns consistently. Only problem is I had to up the time to 20 min for each screen! It kind of sucks having to wait that long to burn a screen esp if theres 3-4 in a job. Does that seem excessive to anyone else?

I'm using pink dioz dual cure from silk screening supplies. I coat the shirt side of the screen twice.. then flip it over and coat the ink side once.

How long does everyone else expose with the same set up? Thanks.

Getting everyone else's times even with the "same" set up probably won't help much. Too many possible extraneous variables.

Get a one step exposure calculator.

And buy the DVD series they sell or one comparable and watch it all they way through.

Makes the whole screen printing process less trial-and-error.
It not seem as bad if you do other things while your screen is burning. :)
Same unit same emulsion and im about 12min.
What wattage are you using? If your using 500 watts, you might want to invest in a 1,000 watt setup.

These units are more like 160w. They are florescent. The cci dual cure I was at 7.5 min on the unit. I use photopolymer now longest time is 3 min. I will caution anyone before switching. This took me a lot of Trial and error ok more on the error side to perfect.
