Is carrier sheet required when cutting JPSS?

2013 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Jamey
Hi,

I have a Craft Robo and wanted to cut (along with vinyl) JPSS and Jet 3G Opaque paper. From research it appears I can cut Jet 3G Opaque without a carrier because it has a backing.

However it doesn't seem so clear about the JPSS. Would i need a carrier sheet for JPSS?

Thanks as always!

I haven't done it myself, but that is what allot of people do with that paper.
although jpss is a 2-ply paper (meaning you can peel the top layer from the back) it is really a pain to get the cut depth right and even then the paper is so thin it's not worth doing it without the carrier sheet. i use ttd mask from imprintables. here's a link that's pretty informative:

Fantastic guys, big thank you.
We've had success cutting the JPSS without a carrier. As mentioned above, the force does need to be lighter because it's thinner compared to vinyl or an opaque. When weeding the excess polymer you can't rip it off like you can with vinyl...because it's thinner. But if you're a little more careful in the weeding process and back the force down, you should be ok. I would certainly test it before making any further purchases.
