i have been using standard compatible epson r300 cartridges for a few months but as our sales are increasing we were finding a ciss was the best way to go

i bought one off ebay for my r300

it works fine but im making t shirts on white t transfer paper, im getting reports that the inks are running when wet or almost washed out after one wash. i have only had 2 people out of 80+ say this so far but its got me worried

which inks could you recommend? or is it a heat issue with pressing ?

thanks for any advice

Did you get pigment inks or dye inks? Transfers don't work well with dye inks. The standard inks for these are dye, when you buy aftermarket carts or a CIS you have to make sure you get pigments with it. Epson does not offer pigment inks for these, though technically you could buy pigment carts for another printer and swap the chips out and reset them.

The R200/R220/R300/R300M/R340 and several RX models (anything that takes the inks with the guitar on the box) are the exact same printhead. I used an R220 with pigment ink for years, not for heat transfers, but for general printing and sign vinyl, and was quite happy with it. Companies say you should use an ICC profile since the R220 isn't designed for pigment inks, but I never had any issues without one. I would recommend a CIS or carts you can fill in the printer that auto-reset. I would always take out to refill and it never worked nicely. The printer would always get air in the lines (banding while printing) and I would have to wait several days for the printer to "settle", which is why I'm getting CIS for my Stylus Pro 1400 once I sell off my Workforce 1100. That way I never have to take the carts/dampers out.
