I am using a Epsom 1430 printer I bought a ciss system
preloaded with dye ink after reading this forum it sounds like I should be using pigment ink. I have jet pro soft stretch paper
will it work with the dye ink?
or will I need to get a new ciss system and pigment ink?
I have been printing with the printer so the system is full of dye ink.

You should be using pigment ink as you have read.
Will it work, it should...should you do it, no.

what should I not use the the ink or the ciss system.
dye inks fade quickly.
Dye inks are used for typical office paper printing.

For apparel you want to use pigment (or solvent) ink (solvent would be from something like a versacamm or the like).
The 1430 I believe comes with dye ink from Epson.
You can order refillable cartridges with pigment ink in them and just remove the CIS.
You should only use a CIS if you print constantly for hours everyday consistantly.
ANYTHING less and just use cartridges and refill them. We print A LOT and use cartridges in most of our printers. Far less issues.

ok thanks into the t will find the durabrite inks and try that.
He is referring to OEM ink cartridges.
I also agree with him. If you are only printing a few hear and there you will have a much easier time just using OEM ink. Less print issues ect.

But if you are going to use bulk ink then use refillable cartridges and not a CIS.

I think you might have answered one of my questions! I was going to get the CISS but I'm only going to be printing enough to press maybe 30 garments per month, maybe more but probably not. Sounds like I can get by with just the cartidges?

In theory a CISS would be less hassle than cartridges, but if air gets in the lines or the lines plug, then more hassle and waste than cartridges. A high quality CISS that was constantly in use might work out well. Else cartridges are probably a safer bet.
