INK LIGHT (Red) On

So last week, David from Conde told me that my C120 (new printer) was bad, just my luck right? So after spending the rest of the day finding the last one in all of San Diego, I got it! YAY! Well, I switched over the inks and everything seems good to go now. But now the INK light (red center button), won't turn off. I took out the inks, reloaded them. Reclicked them in. Even hit the white button (that David told me about last week, which worked then but doesn't now), hit the red button a dozen times, turned it off and on a dozen times, unplugged it, etc.... When I try to do a nozzle check it keeps telling me thta I am out of ink, and I know it is just unaware, that I do have ink.

Well, I have to complete an order tonight and am really getting frustrated and discouraged, plus being loaded up on cold meds doesn't help.

Anyone have any suggestions, PLEASE.

Thanks so much!

Try putting in the original inks...do a test print/nozzle check...and THEN put in the dye sub ink

Okay, I will try that again. I did do a nozzle check with the reg inks, THEN installed the sub inks. But I am willing to try anything. Thanks for responding!!
I have had similar problems with my epson r1800. I only ever use it for printing out black ink on my transparencies. However, the color cartridges run out...strange since I never print with those cartridges. Apparently, the tiny chip on the side of the ink cartridges counts the number of prints and will relay to the printer when the cartridge SHOULD be out of ink.

I've been look into buying a "chip resetter" online but I'm not sure this will solve the problem. Has anyone ever used one??

Definitely sounds like a bad chip. If you have an epson cartridge that works just switch the chips (remove the chip from the epson cartridge and put it on the dye sub cartridge that is not working). A chip re-setter should also do the job.

I have a C88 and when I get the red light I can hit the ink button and the carts will travel to an arrow that points to the empty cart (I don't know if this feature is available on the C-120, but I believe that it is). Sometimes it's only one cart that needs to be changed and you can take care of that and be back in business.

I also had a problem with an Artainium cart where the plastic holding the chip in flashed over and covered a contact on the chip. I carefully removed the excess plastic with an Exacto knife and got it working.

Wish you luck.
