Hello, I have a Epson 1280 and I am using a CIS system. While printing 11 x 17 transfers the yellow ink started printing on parts of the paper where their is no art. Is this called Banding? I have been reading past post and googling on how to fix the problem. I have tried the coffee filter method but still have the same problem. One sheet will print awesome and the very next one will be smeared! I have cleaned heads and still same problem. Can anyone help me with a solution? I have not tried Windex yet. I have also changed to my original Epson ink and still the same thing.

Thanks
Sharona

It is a little over a year old. I haven't used it much over a years time, it was printing fine and after about 6 transfers the yellow started going everywhere...place's where it shouldn't have gone!

Printers need to be used. it is easy for ink remaining in the print heads to dry up and clog. I recommend at least making one print several times a week. When I was a demo rep for Epson I would talk to people that had this problem and most told me they had not used there printers for awhile. Here is a test. Take a glass of water and leave it on the sink for a week and then check how much is gone after that time. It evaporates or drys up.

I usually try to print at least a couple times a week on it. What could be causing the erratic scattering of yellow ink?

Grimlens.. you missing any socks? Just kidding. You said you are using a CIS system. Is there any air bubbles in the tubes. It may not be sucking the ink into the cartridge.

We did the syringe thing with the yellow ink on the CIS but we also changed out to the original epson ink cartridge and it did the same thing...only saw 2 gremlins!
I had a old cis system that did the same thing (c88) I could never get it working no matter what I did. Sorry can't hel you further. Lou
