I'm just looking for some guidence.Ive been coming up with designs and logos for a couple of local bands in the area. and i thought it might be a good idea to start my own small merch company so i can make a profit off this.most orders are 1 to 2 colors anywhere from 25-200 t-shirts these shirts normaly get sold for about $20 dollars.My question is if i contract this to a screen printer while im starting off is there any money to be made with out over pricing the customer.if there is any money made from this i would invest it back in my own equipment in the long run.Or does anyone just use an ink jet printer and a heat press for band merch most tshirts would be black and white would this be a better route for me.

In the beginning MHO sub out and focus on designs - save and if still interested and time allows both buy equipment. You can put something on top of the SP and make some - own equipment - will put you in a hole to work out of.

transfer paper cost a lot more than fifteen cents. they're making their money off the $20 'setup' charge, which is completely bogus ~ unless you can justify putting a piece of paper in a printer an ordeal worth the charge. at least for screen printing the set up fee is very much a real thing. i'm cornfuddled: is that $20.15 per sheet? because it doesn't say there's a limit to how many you can get, so at some point if i order enough prints at fifteen cents, it won't take long for them to lose money. i must be missing something here....
These are screen printed plastisol transfers.....So the 20.00 is for preparing a screen to print.....
And not sure where you get the idea paper is worth more than fifteen cents....By my calculation the paper they use for each transfer is about 4 cents....
This is great deal for folks who use plastisol transfers...

'Any single image one color heat transfer is just .15¢ per piece with a $20 setup for any image up to 9"x12.75" in one of our 18 stock colors.' that and where it says 'on color heat transfers.' now that you pointed it out, yes, i did notice where is says screen printed heat transfers. isn't it rather odd, though, that they don't mention plastisol once?
obviously i was referring to a quality heat transfer paper. if you're using heat transfer paper and only paying four cents a sheet for it, you must be printing on toilet paper. plastisol paper cost? no idea. if you say four cents, okay.

Transfer paper for inkjet or laser transfer is a far different paper than for screen printed transfers.....
As far as it being 4 cents a sheet, not exactly....It is about 35 cents for a 24" x 36" sheet (in bulk)....I was guessing they can get 8 or 9 designs on a sheet because not all will be 9.0" x 12.75".....
As far as pricing, I am guessing this special will only work for them if they get enough ganged orders.....They have been in business for 25+ years so I am guessing they have a good idea of what they are doing....
