Hi, I was just wondering if anybody in the UK had ordered from 'busted tees.com'. I only wish to order 3 - 5 tshirts, but I want to know if I am liable to pay any import duty and/or V.A.T. on them, some say yes, some say no, has anybody had any experience of ordering a small amount of t-shirts from the USA?

also, if yes, how much was the import duty?

It's one of those things where there is no real definitive answer. The law says that customs duty must be paid on goods at different rates depending on the goods. This is for items sent from outside the EU. However sometimes I have been charged, other times I haven't. I guess some items slip through the net and are not charged. Anyway I doubt the cost would be very much for the T-shirts.

Over £18 is the limit, that's why we get CDs from Jersey etc.

Email them and ask them to put a low value ($20 would do) on the Customs Declaration Form when they send out your t-shirts. They may or may not agree to do this, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
