Imageclip Dark Weeding problems

2190 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  paradigmprint
I'm using Imageclip to print a number of different designs. I'm having an issue with the weeding. On areas where lines come together or in the smaller spaces in text lettering, I'm getting lots of the white base left. I'm following the directions from Imageclip pretty exactly.

Some of the designs that don't have those types of features print great every time, but others never come out.

Is there any hope of being able to get those areas to self weed?

Try to reduce the white toner in toner saver on your driver.

Hi Al. I am very interested in following your posts on the shirt toner issues. You mention toner saver. is this the software, or is this an actual control option on the printer.
BTW. thanks for all of your input on this topic!

Brenda, Toner saver is in the printer driver setting. In the c831n printer you should set the setting for toner saver in medium for the white toner.
The culprit of the cracking of transfers is caused by the resins in the toners and not the papers.

This is a well-known issue with the ImageClip LaserDark. It has not really been solved and most people end up going with the Forever LaseDark instead to handle jobs with fine detail. It also has much brighter colors than IC LD.

On the other hand, ImageClip LaserLight is a great choice for light colored garments!

I believe you will find the weeding of finer lettering will weed better by reducing the density of the white toner.

My experience is that Image Clip Dark is "not" a good fit for detailed prints due to exactly the issue that you're referring to. In fact, I am only using the IC Laser Dark for fundraiser type shirts that I'm selling cheap and, once my current supply is gone, won't be re-ordering.

I've found that the Forever Laser Dark handles intricate design very well, has a much softer hand than IC, and, since it's a one-temperature marry and print process, is much faster. The wholesale cost of the paper is also lower.
What is the cost of the 11x17" forever?
Do you sell this?

I don't sell anything other than printed T's.

Our supplier for Forever is Valley Litho Supply out of Wisconsin (we're in Florida). You can reach them by phone at 800-826-6781 ..... I'm not sure that they have the paper listed on their website.

The paper is available at a multitude of locations, though, just do a google search for Forever Low Temp for Dark.
