Sorry to hear that !!
Can it be user replaced ?
I've replaced the cord of my flash dryer, and it is relatively easy.
Good luck

I will ask PETA to keep on eye on you.. just in case :D:D
I can't remember what you have, Ken. Is it a HIX? If so, call Ray in the HIX service department and he can tell you if it can be replaced or not.

And buy your dog some toys to chew on for Pete's sake! :D Just kidding.
It is the Stahls Hotronix Clam 16x16 private labeled. 1 step above a mighty press..

Replacing a damaged electrical cord on your heat press is easy.

Go to Home Depot and get a new plug (make sure it is rated to at least 15 Amps)-- about $2.00 - $3.00.

Cut the Wire above where your pooch chewed...(that is closer to the heat press ).

Add on the new plug and you are in back business. All you need is a screw driver and a wire stripper (a scissor can do in a pinch.)

Here is an awesome link to electrical cord repair...

Buy your dog some rawhide!:)

Sorry to hear, Ken. Hopefully that repair goes well... and I hope you take it out of his allowance! ;)
if it was plugged in i would imagine the dog would have gotten a good jolt. My Hotronix press has a cord that plugs into the press, so I can just get a new cord and plug it in.
Maybe you should chnage the dog's name to Sparky.
I was going to change his name to Rover because that is what I was going to run him over with this morning. A Land Rover
I know the plugs for the press are a bit thicker/more heavy duty, but couldn't you use a computer plug to get by with until you tracked down the right one? The ends are the same.

*EDIT* Do not follow the above advice. Tis the rantings of a mad person.
Hope the cord surgery goes well. I imagine you checked, but my heat presses run off the exact same type power cable as computers and monitors use.

They are a bit different in gauge/size.
The power source on my computer pulls 850watts while the press is rated at 1750watts. I'm certainly no electrician, but the smaller cord may not transfer enough electricity.

This thread does have me thinking though, I'm going to try and plug a computer power cord in and see if it works. BRB (possibly after a visit from the fire department :p )
Okay. Computer power cord is not a good idea. <yikes>

The press fires up just fine and I let it heat up to about 150 degrees before I noticed the cable getting warm to the touch. So yes, you do get enough power through for the press to function, but it could turn into a fire hazard pretty quickly.
Thanks for the update. I didn't really account for the gauge being different. Just happened to notice it was the same connector before when plugging it in (my power switch is broken so I usually plug/unplug it).
Computer cords are (most of them) gauge .18, it is for up to 7 Amp devices, while a 15Amp device will require at least a gauge 14.
Play safe :)
Call the manufacturer. No playing with fire, no getting burned. :D
Using the wrong cord can also blow a fuse, hopefully before the hot wire starts a fire. Glad you've given up on that idea. I'm surprised he didn't get shocked when he bit into the wire, unless it wasn't plugged in at the time. I have to keep my wires up and out of reach too.
lowes carries a wide variety of cords and plugs.

Just take the electrical info off of the heat press and ask the oldest man you can find in the electrical appliances and and such...he will set you up.

Why the oldest man? Is it because he's the slowest to flee when approached for help?

Seriously, the last time I looked in Lowes they had moulded window A/C cords as suggested above and to me that sounds like a winner price wi$e.
Because old dudes usually care enough to learn everything they can...your average 20 something at lowes is dodging carryouts and isnt sure what a claw hammer is.
