IDSO Laser Heat Transfer Paper that can be ironed on

2538 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  BumbleBear
I do have a heat press for my own use, but I want to make samples of my designs that I can give as freebies to my customers that they can iron on their own shirts with a household iron.

I have searched for a laser transfer paper that can be ironed on with no luck, everything seems to be inkjet and I do not have an inkjet printer.

If you want to print on paper for light shirts, then it's best you buy an Inkjet printer.
To iron a modern day laser paper, you would need to get hold of an old iron which is strong enough to take your weight so you can stand on it to get the image to transfer.

The new style lasers use a fuser which is hotter than the lasers of old, and with no fuser oil. For this reason, the transfer papers of today have silicone on them, and have a much higher transfer temp. They also require pressure.

There is however an alternative. If you print on Transferwear Dark (the material for dark shirts), this can be reliably ironed onto a shirt.

Thanks for the info - actually, I got a new kind of paper from Pro World that can be used in a laser printer and is iron friendly. :D
I'd be interested to hear of your results when you try it.

How well does it iron ?
How well does it feed through the laser ?
What kind of laser are you using ?

and most of all, does it wash well ?

I just got it this week and printed up some small samples for a promo box I am featured in. I only had one sheet jam in my printer, but that may not have had anything to do with the paper - my printer is kinda touchy. I have a Minolta QMS Magicolor, not sure of the model but it doesn't have fuser oil (learned THAT the hard way LOL).

I'll post here with any feedback about the samples and I'm going to print a couple for myself and I will let you know how they iron & wash up.
