Hello Fam

I have been putting out many post and finally working somewhat I emailed Ryonet company, may be somone quicker can give me some advice. He is my email to Ryonet:

I have the silver press kit with the emulsion that was provided. The emulsion works great but I do not have a pressure wash and can not afford one at this time so I use a water hose. Any way I think the exposure time that the company recommended is too long for I can not get the water hose to clear the screen. I notice in some areas were the light does not hit my images as strong- I can wash out my screen with no problem but when the light hits the area of my image the emulsion does not budge when I use the water hose to clear the screen. It is like the screen is over exposed, and or the emulsion is too thick but I can see the images clearly. I have the basic exposure unit w/ stand. I use variable timing; 12 minutes then 10 then 8, all the same I can not clear the entire screen. I am going to try to burn the screen for 5 minutes and see if that helps.

One other thing since I have trouble washing out my emulsion and I do not have pressure washer can I put the emulsion on one side of the screen the printing substrate side and cut down my exposure time. Because even if I soak my screen for 5 minutes with a soggy towel that also does not work at all. I still can not clear the entire emulsion from my screen. Is it really important to coat the screen 1/1. I have seen some tutorials that does only one coat on one side and they swear by that it works well.

Sincerely

Oh yeah I use wellum paper but I did not use a fixative to darken the image-like I daid areas that was not exposed to the light strongly wash out with not problem. Should I use a vellum fixaive spray?
Thanks to all who answers my cries.

I had the same problem when i used Water resistant duel cure emulsion. 1:1 coat on a 110 mesh, 500w lamp for 13 minutes 18 inches above the screen. No luck washing out my image. After that I used the same setup but different emulsion. This time i used Ulano QTX Ultra-Fast exposing emulsion and my image washed out easy with a garden hose. I was able to print some shirts on my silver press using plastisol ink. Im gonna try the water resistant d/c emulsion with my DIY 1000w metal halide light.

It may be light getting through your possie.
Put a coin on the screen next time and see if that washes out.
Did you use the same time setting? I also seen a tutorial were a person used 3 minutes to expose the image but I think the distance was 12 inches. Thanks for the advice
I have bought a fixative to spary on my vellum I will see if that works. I had a bbook that troubleshoot emulsion probelms and it stated I may need to use a spray fixative for the vellum to make the image darker, but like I stated earlier if the light was ot directly hitting my image the ink washed out. Thanks
I did it!!!!!!! I finally have the right combination to expose my screen. I calculated for thin somewhat fine detail like letters I can expose the screen for 5-8 minutes and for bold, thick line images and text for 8-12.5 minutes. Thanks Ehadden1 and PostiveDave. I also doubled my vellum paper- to darken the image even more. I think that was the biggest problem.

Thanks again Ehadden1 and PostiveDave

P.s I will put images of my two screen tommorrow. It is too late tonight. Plus my screens are still wet. Good night TSF-Fam.

film density was definitley your problem. you do not need a pressure washer to washout screens only to reclaim them.

I have some photos of my screens. I took pics on my bed so the screens looked modulatd, but they are clean lines and crisp image.

Now I know what my problem was and that was I needed to have doubled my vellum paper. But I have a large latitude for exposing my emulsion. Thanks for everyone who has giving me advice and helped me. I hope my psic will help someone who has or had the same "fo-pa" as I did. Thanks again.

What kind of emulsion did you use? 500 watt light?
I used Ryonet Prochem DXP Pink and I used a simple exposure stand with a 500 watt.
Here is a test print. I like it.:D:D:eek::eek::):):)
