Most all BLANK white t/shirts, including Hanes Beefy Tees, run at or less than $1.50 wholesale. Also, Sanmar (www.sanmar.com) offers free freight on orders of $200 or more, including white tees. Ring spun tees are generally the higher end tees, and are much softer, and easier to print on, than the non ring spun.

If all you want is white, there are plenty available for that price range (and less). We're not supposed to post exact prices here for various reasons, but I recommend Alpha (alphashirt.com). You have to apply for an account (it's free) to see/get their lowest prices, but it's easy and doesn't take more than 24 hours to get approval. They will ship for free after you've spent a certain amount (I think $250 or thereabouts), and the stuff arrives THE NEXT MORNING. I don't know how they do it.

They have Hanes and all the other top names (Gildan, Anvil, Jerzees, Alternative, etc.) Looks like they are even having a sale on Gildan this week, a case of whites for a lot less than $2.00 each. Also, what they refer to as a case price usually means more like per dozen. Don't let the pricing throw you--type 6 or 12 shirts into the order form, and see what the per-shirt price is. It's always lower than the posted price (which is the "piece" price if you just order one shirt).

Other vendors listed in the Preferred Vendors column of this page (to the left) are very popular here, too. I think most of them can give you the price point you're looking for, if you don't have time to wait for Alpha to approve you. Another one I like is Atlantic. (atlanticsportswearinc.com)

Ringspun cotton is longer-staple and therefore softer than regular cotton. It's really nice, but it has a slight "fuzziness" that I found somewhat problematic with heat transfers. It repels them ever so slightly. Nobody but me seemed to notice the difference, but it still bothered me, so I wouldn't order ringspun again. I imagine it's not a problem with screen printing, though. I don't know that it's worth the extra expense--and I seriously doubt you'll find any ringspun shirts for 2 bucks--for the average buyer. It's nice for baby clothes, though! :)
