Heat transfer is easy. You will need a heat press and a vinyl cutter. You can layer colors to get multi-color however, your designs will need to be simple so they can be cut on the vinyl cutter by color.

For sublimation, for black shirts, you will need a heat press, a sublimation printer and you will want a contour vinyl cutter to cut out your images. You will need a backer board for this. If you heat transfer a sublimation printout on a black shirt you will get a white haze where there is no printing on the sublimation sheet. Contour cutting this away will remove the white haze.

For everything you will need design software. You can go free with InkScape or you can go with Corel or Illustrator.

For direct to garment, you put your shirt on a platen and print on it, just like it was paper. DTG printers are a little pricey but have come down somewhat in recent years.

Roland BN20, as DTG you might pull your hair out with for the white ink at that price range!

This is a good all around machine and can do print/cut vinyl graphics and high end heat transfers. Also would need a heat press, I'd suggest a Stahls 16x20 auto open.

I'm not sure there's a good option for the budget you have.

I would suggest outsourcing your print jobs to people that already have t-shirt printing setups.

You have to think: Do you just want to sell your cool designs on t-shirts or do you want to offer t-shirt printing services to others?

If you just want to sell your cool designs on t-shirts, investing in t-shirt printing equipment may not be the best way to go.

Along with the money investment, you'll also have a learning curve time investment to learn how to put out quality t-shirts. Add on additional time investment in actually printing your orders and you leave little time to actually go out and market your t-shirts or come up with more cool designs (or have a life)

DTG printing would probably work for what you need, but the investment for a quality machine setup would run you about $25,000+ USD

Contact All American for your DTG needs. They can explain all your options to you and go your best route. We have the Neoflex and love it, large designs and several different platen options. You can also get set up for Textile, Solvent or even edible inks (which are for cakes, cookies, etc.). Very versatile. They have great support Tigers Team as well.
