I am wanting to do some screen printing, but i don't want my ink to be thick on my shirts (if that makes sense). I want the ink to blend in with the shirt so that if you run your hand over the image, you wouldn't be able to tell unless your eyes were open. What kind of ink do I need to use for that and is it more expensive? What are the pros and cons of that type of ink?

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section or if this question was recently answered. Thank you ahead of time.

Definently go with waterbased inks. There Eco friendly and they cleanup very easily to. If u do printing on dark shirts, I highly recommend permaset aqua supercover inks. It gives a lil hand but the colors are very freaking vibrant. For light colored shirts, u can use permaset aqua standard or matsui ink.

Your question can be answered many different ways. If you are printing on a light colored shirt use water based ink, if you are printing on a dark shirt use a discharge ink. Most water based inks can be hard to work with if you are not use to them. They can dry in the screen and clog them up and slow production down if you don't act fast. Plastisol can have a soft hand if used correctly, I use plastisol on 70% of the shirts I print. We add curable reducer or nova base to the ink to soften it up (up to 30% additive). If you are happy with colors that don't jump off of dark shirts you can use plastisol but it will still have a little feel to it. I use a 305 mesh on most everything I print using plastisol and 195 or 230 mesh on water based ink. Water based ink will definitely give you a better hand. Good luck.
