I hate printing white officially

i am doing a small job and just cant get my screens to turn out. I am trying to put multiple layers of emulsion on the back so i can lay more ink down with fewer passes only every time I do it the results vary. The emulsion either starts to wrinkle around the design and then peels off in large pieces or it won't wash out in the more detailed areas.

I was curious if anyone could give me some tried and true methods for printing with white. I mean detailed descriptions down to exposure times, screen coating, brand of emulsion and wash out technique. I am sick of being scared to print white!

i dont change anything other then use a lower mesh screen.
what about for high detailed designs? that's what i'm dealing with right now..
how much detail? how are u washing out ur screen after u burn them, how long?
Pretty detailed. I am using a 156 mesh and its still not getting all the detail i want. I am washing it out with my pressure washer on low pressure for around 5 min or less. I used to do it with the hose but it always took a lot longer and the wrinkling would happen more severely.
wow 5 min is a long time. it shouldn't take u longer then 1:50 max.
what are u us to burn Ur screen and for how long?
ones u burn Ur screen wet one said flip then wet the other side flip and use Ur pressure washer.
well what i do is coat the screen about three times on the back. then i expose it on a 20x24 silkscreeningsupplies.com light box for 20-25min.

thanks for helping out

hmm well i when i expose my screen takes around 2 or 3 min
when i first started i used a 500watt one from there and it only took 13 min so maybe ur over exposing ur screen and thats why its taking u longer then it should to wash out
even when i am coating it so thick? i guess i could cut the time down... What brand of emulsion are you using?
im not sure i never really need to coat it so many time i just do the front then back and thats pretty much it, ur using it as a base right? why not just print flash print?
i use
Qt CCI DXP Diazo-Photopolymer Dual Cure Direct Emulsion
thats what i use too. I guess i could just print flash print and i'm over reacting or something. I just want to be able to get it opaque and smooth on one print. Guess i will just try it regularly. What kind of exposure unit are you using?
You may think this is crazy, cause I'm very new at this, but I coat my screens once on each side and I am running white through a 230 mesh for high detail. I usually have to print, flash, print, flash, but works pretty good so far.

not crazy at all.
Try coating each side of the screen once, being sure to coat the squeegee side last.

Also, cut your exposure time down to around 12 min. Sounds like you are over burning your screen. You should be able to keep quite a bit of detail with a 156 mesh.

What kind of emulsion are you using? I'm gonna guess ProChem DXP?
You need to run a step test on exposing your screens to get the correct time that you can use your pressure washer at full pressure 1500psi is what we use and are exposing our screens around 7 minutes with a 1k halogen bulb.

Also to get white on dark always pfp. Do not try to take a shortcut, it costs you more in the end.
One pass white can be done with a push stroke, not a pull. Even then it's tricky. To get the best most consistent white, you MUST print flash print.
What type of emulsion are you using
You should start using

Ulano RLX Dual Cure Diazo Emulsion Gal.

i'm using the same as pukingdeserthobo... I try out the new method and see how it goes i guess...

thanks for the help everyone!
