Every time I need to upgrade my software I cringe when I have to buy Corel.
For 10 years I've been using Corel and not since x4 have I been able to get my default color for text set to RGB mode.
And dont tell me to email tech support because all they ever want you to do is dump your setting and start again.

What happens when you click on a color without selecting anything? It should bring up a menu asking if you want to set the default to that color for artistic or paragraph text (or a vector object.)

I’ve tried all those options 100 times. I can save default color settings for fill and outlines in RGB but not text.
It will stay RGB for a couple sentences when I’m typing for plaques but if I click off the text tool to create a graphic and go back to text it’s CMYK again.
Tried to set object properties, default colors setting, text fill and every other function I’ve learned over the years and it always revert back to CMYK.
I never had a problem in x3, when I switched to x6 I could never get the text defaults to stay in RGB mode. I swore I would never buy a Corel upgrade and I bit the bullet this year and got Graphic Suite 2017 and it has the same issues.

You are correct but there is a way to fix it. I’ll try and see if I can find it. I don’t use CMYK or RGB but Pantone for easy separation. It would switch from Pantone to CMYK. I would care if I had to set it each time I reopened Corel but in the middle of the same file, I agree it shouldn’t happen.

I also bit the bullet and bought 2017. What sucks is some of the beta testers are saying 2018 is 1000x better and some of them have said Corel sucks on about every release. There is a couple of cross platform guys saying good things also. We shall see but not sure I want to pay for upgrade. I was also told though X6 users may not be able to upgrade.

The way you have to save for text is a PIA but once done it work. I hope I can find as I lost 3 SSD hard drives due to a contractor down the road hitting a high voltage line digging.

If not I’ll see if I can find the guys email that walked me though it.

Well this is weird, I fired up my windows 10 laptop for something else, and think, what the hell, open Corel X7 on it and it types text in RGB. I'll have to investigate more in the morning. My other computer that it was happening on was a desktop windows 8.1 version. It's time for Hockey & basketball & Formula -1, and beer drinking:D

Tools->Color Management->Default Settings. In the dialog that appears, you can select the Default Color Settings.

I hate Adobe. No one handed mouse wheel zoom.
With PS CC:
1) Click Edit.
2) Click Preferences.
3) Click Tools.
4) Click Zoom with scroll wheel.
5) Click OK to save the settings.

In CorelDRAW after you made the settings changes like fill type, color, font type etc. you have to click Tools > Save Settings as Default. I just did on X8. The default color was CMYK because it initialized with CMYK palette. I clicked the Text tool. Before typing a text I changed the fill to uniform and color mode to RGB in Object properties. When I selected red. The object property settings popped up. From the Settings pop up window I selected Artistic Text and Paragraph. Then clicked ok.

I typed a text and a paragraph just to make sure the color of everything is in RGB red. I clicked Tools>Save Settings as Default. Closed CorelDRAW without saving the file. Opened CorelDRAW with new document. Without changing the color setting typed a text and a paragraph and all the colors were RGB red.

Did it with X3, X4 and X5 and the results were the same. The defaults stayed as I setted them. Even though the palette of all versions were CMYK the text and paragraph colors stayed RGB.

So to make the settings to stick click Tools>Save Settings as default.

You got to remember if the color palette is CMYK any color in the palette is obviously CMYK. If you want RGB make the change in object property uniform fill, Advanced then change to RGB. Or add RGB color palette in the docker window.

I have found the way to fix this. Click on the rgb color that you want to use (on a new page), BEFORE you start typing, and the Change Documents Defaults window will open, click on Artistic Text, close that window out. Tools> save as default.

I just tried Illustrator again. There is no one handed mouse wheel option as is the default in CorelDraw and can be turned on in Inkscape. ALT+Mouse Wheel Scroll does this, but it is not ONE handed.

I tried Illustrator CC 22.0.0. I had hoped it would now be there as my threshold for working without this option is very low.

There is not a Tools option under Preferences. Maybe Photoshop does this, but I can't find it in Illustrator.

Update: I found this AutoHotKey script that makes Illustrator behave as I wish, just so you know. It would be better if it was in program, but this has stopped me cold using Illustrator as I found it too frustrating to adapt my habits form other programs.

Where do you type that?

You are right nothing about mouse scroll with AI in references but CS2 Illustrator by default the mouse scroll button is on. I don't have AI CC to confirm that.
