Hi All I have been reading your forum for awhile now and love your advice and combined experience and have finally decided to join. This is my first forum ever so here goes...I am chasing a recent (2010) quote and advice for purchasing a vinyl cutter for vinyl 610mm width or so with a stand (car decals/stickers and I would like to do flock and such as well for T shirts) to run with corelx4 (14) Windows xp sp2 and windows 7 and a heat transfer machine not a hit and miss but a reliable good value for money one that I can do cups and such (all new to me) too or later with add ons? A stockist for vinyls and T shirt materials transfers, flock etc., I am relying on current word of mouth for reliability, spare parts and tech support if required and all of this needs to be as close as possible to Queensland, Australia, Central CQ as at present 2010! My budget is not huge but I would rather spend up to $2000 today than $500 every six months or straight away many times over and it seems it some cases I have read that the headache of cheap and nasty to me is not worth it but very expensive I cannot do either. So any advice would be greatly appreciated Thank you.

Thanks yes that's it, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming..ha ha. may I ask though what sort you bought and where from and does it automatically sense the edges of the media or do you have to manually set it' s start cutting positon?

Yes maybe a little but not that far at this point ...Thanks though,Roland I am used to however I have been looking at the creation type too. Do you know if they automatically sense media edges like the roland and are they any good parts wise and do roland blades fit? Otherwise I am thinking of HL 721 I think from Highlight not the rabbit HX720 though? As for heat press I have no idea although yes this Heatmaster has had a good rap... But where is stockist somewhere close to QLd?
As far as agents in Qld for the Creation, I don't think there are any.

here are a couple of links to suppliers of the equipment and supplies you are looking for, they are in Qld.
Not all are cheap, but they are helpful.
Power Digital is mainly sublimation.

Do you know if they automatically sense media edges like the roland? No they don't, you have to setup media manually.

Are they any good parts wise and do roland blades fit? Don't know about parts, from speaking to another user, Roland blades are usable.
Hi Steve Chris and Media press Thanks Guys
I am going to jump in and buy something this week I have decided as I had first go at airbrushing last week end loved it car looks great...rough but great and I want to do more. So i am thinking anything will do for starters and then get better next year maybe if required...Hopefully not..This is why I have been trying to research as much as possible.

Do you guys think price wise I would be better to buy interstate if service would be as good Do you guys have favourite suppliers and do you know of any cutters besides the roland that do sense media width and give you a reading so you can adjust your plot map on the computer if required to save vinyl?

Do the manually set give a reading and a page on your cut file to match the measurement width(vinyl) in plotter? How do they operate?
Chris(signz in Oz) u mentioned your HX 720 is doing well was it easy to install and such and are there any tips you could give on using it? Also tech support was it required? Did you get it and where did you purchase from? I have read some negative reports on them and some good ones which makes me unsure. That is why I thought I might try the HL 721 from Highlight directly for ongoing service, warranty etc. As for a heat press I may have to pause on that for awhile and do a little more research to know what I am buying.
Thanks again guys

the rabbit was from ebay...havent needed tech support, very easy to set up, at the start it was a huge learning curve, wasted heaps of vinyl to start with, but soon worked on ways to better it...its been awsome, the roland rep laughed at me when i told me i bought it off ebay, and said it will do the job for 3-5mths then who knows... but the way i looked at it ..$1500-2000 for a roland...$600 for rabbit, i thought try it first if i like doing stickers and signs upgrade when the rabbit dies.... in the first 3mths of profit i could have bought two rolands....lolol
12mths down the track and its still going great.. in fact was thinking about the bigger (rabbit)model....lolol
That is BRILLIANT... ok I think I am convinced and I just tried to send email to one of the above Stockists for a Roland and email disappeared might be a sign. ha I think you are right perhaps cheaper is better for starters. It runs with corel x4 doesn't it?
i got sign software with it, that was, for me very hard to use... i got signblazer and never looked back its a free download trial that never ends and has full functions theres a whole website on it ....
