I agree CorelDRAW is good vector graphics software. If you want to get your feet wet with vector graphics software there is a free CorelDRAW look alike. It is called Inkscape. You can download it from:

For Mac Mac OS X installer | Inkscape

I don't use Adobe Illustrator vector graphics. Others prefer it over CorelDRAW.
