RESEARCHING A NEW CLOTHING LINE There is a large amount of information you need to assimilate in order to write an effective business plan. You must evaluate your competition, map out your channels of distribution, forecast your cash flow, develop your product, etc.I suggest you utilize these resources to further your research. The resources within our suggested websites are very thorough. They can also help you reach out to appropriate contacts for more information.

In researching your clothing line, Style Source also urges you to "learn the lingo" and be prepared to properly identify the fabric you wish to use by weight (yield), content, and construction. I strongly recommend that you develop a business plan prior to making your first sample. Before you spend your first dollar, your plan must make sense from both a financial and market standpoint.

come on Presto...your question/request is too broad for response...first you have to help yourself by reading all the appropriate post in the forum..the answers are there...if you dont find what you seek you may need to hire a professional consultant.. this biz is not a get rich quick and easy scheme

lots of work, research and some $$ are needed
Hello Preston and :welcome:

While I am sure there are threads on the forum that deal with this, setting up shop is greatly affected by location and local requirements.

To find these out, I'd suggest you contact your local Small Business Development Center. They will not only hand hold during the set up (they know what you need to do to set up in your location), they will also assist in your future growth. Here is a link to find your local center:
Small Business Administration - sbdc_locator_map

I've used them, they are excellent. Will help you decide how to set up (sole prop, LLC) and help you with everything else, too. Free resource, paid for via your tax dollars, so might as well use it.

Consulting a local tax accountant is also helpful. Good luck to you.
