How would you go about getting this design on a shirt?

Hey guys,

So I've put together some new images for my brand, but I'm having a hard time visualizing how to go about this one. I'm going to be using discharge inks, but I'm not sure how many colors this should be. I have White, two tones of tan, and black...but I'm wondering if I can use a halftone gradient to handle some of the tan? Or is the best approach to stick with 4 colors? I'm probably going to put it on multiple colors, but probably black to start with. Would love to hear what you guys think. I have done some single color runs on my equipment, but this looks a bit trickier.

Best would be with an under base white and a highlight white, but otherwise 4 spot colors without halftones, as you mentioned.
You'll get a slightly softer print with the highlight white rather than double-hitting the under base.
I like the graphic, by the way.
Thanks man!

...but a white underbase? with discharge? I've never heard of anyone doing that before?
Oops. I missed the discharge part.
4-spot colors with discharge.
Why work so hard send it to me and I will print you a dye sub transfer for no charge. You press it on a shirt and see if you like it.
Pm me please..
With plastisol I would have looked at light tan as underbase, then dark tan as a solid spot with mid tan as halftones.

2 screens on a black shirt.

I've not printed discharge, so am not totally familiar with how it all works, but can't see why the light tan could not be a discharge.

If you don't underbase, then the mid tan halftone will be halftones with the dark tan and black, not halftoned with the the dark tan and light tan. So your halftone would come out darker.

Of course, you could just spot colour everything and go for 3 screens. I guess then, since you're using discharge you just print all three colours with butt registration.

Hey Dave, I think he is printing this on dark shirts. (see top of original post).
Sorry my bad, just trying to save him a ton of work for a sample.

I will do something better for him and post a picture tomorrow or the next day.
