Hi !
Be gentle-I'm still looking around this rather wonderful resource and there's SO much info !

I mainly do bespoke caricatures from photographs and original cartoons which, while providing a reasonable living, doesn't generate the amount of income I'd like to become used to !

I've done work for small traders who sell my work printed on t-shirts and mugs etc but I'd be interested in printing ( and sublimating- something new I've learned-thanks ! ;-) my own stuff. I'm thinking of stag/ hen parties, football/sports stars, the egomaniacs who want they're own designer label, birthday mugs etc.

Does anyone know of anyone who's tried this and how they got on ? And as ever- any other tips you guys can pass on would be much appreciated.

Many thanks !

I know there are artists selling their original artwork on t-shirts, etc.

How they got on is going to vary. Some do well, some lose money.

A lot of it has to do with how well you can market and advertise yourself and continually find new and creative ways to get your product out there.

A lot of times, how well you do has less to do with how much talent you have and more to do with how well you are at marketing.

Never a truer word said, Rodney !
From what I've recently been learning, it looks like a case of maximising the following marketing plans:
a) General good design ( The timeless stuff that appeals without too much "fashion depreciation")
b) Catching a bandwagon. ( Spotting new mass appeals and cashing in quick ! )

I'm sure that their is no dividing line between them and that many genres and styles snuggle nicely between the two, but it appears that to be "fleet of foot" is to be successful in this game !
The advantage to this over many other industries is its' agility to match markets almost instantaneously.

Thanks for the reply, Rodney !
