How are you going to sell to sports teams? Are you already juiced in with a team? If not I think you will find this a very competitive market.

Other than a conflict of interest then you are good to go. Get a sellers permit and sign up with places like teamwork.

If you are going into the team business the best advice I can give you is have patience. No matter how hard you try, have fittings, give measurements etc. you will have mothers that just don't think they fit right, the numbers are too high or too low, they snag on the catchers gear, etc. etc. etc. Girls teams are the worst. I have given up on the team business because I just can't make any money at it for the time invested and all the re-prints

Good luck! This is what I do. I target mainly schools (Class of, clubs, spirit wear) and sports (tees, sweats, jerseys).

Yes, there is good competition. But many sports teams and schools prefer someone local and a face over a web site. Plus, once you get going, you will get a lot of word of mouth referrals.

Go to Ohio's state website. You can get a sellers permit. You may also need to get a tax id number and a business account. I did all that as a sole proprietor to help keep my records straight.

Best of luck! Start small and keep a lessons learned file.

Joe
