Hi Larry, It is all in the way you bring your artwork into FastRIP, but no matter what, the lighter translucent stuff around the edges will not show up well on a black shirt.

What version of the FastARTIST software do you have and do you have PhotoShop, great image by the way.

The real problem with this image is that unless you have the original artwork in layers in PhotoShop (and you do really need PhotoShop for this) its a lot of work.
Once you have split the forground (the area you dont want to blend in with the shirt) onto its own layer then the rest is pretty easy.

You do need to forget the Underbase wizard and work with the transparency model for an underbase on a job like this (otherwise its even more work).

If you can get the forground object onto there own layer (with a transparent background) and a 2nd layer with the whole image you can run the KnockMeColorOut in PhotoShop to remove the white background and adjust it to get the right amount of blend into the shirt you want (although I would save a copy of the layered jobs first so you can come back and run it again if you need to after printing).
Merge the two layers (into a layer with transparency) and then can take it into FastARTIST and turn the transparency layer into the underbase.

But as I said its quite a bit of work to get the forground objects onto there own layer unless you have the original and it was on layers.

Best regards

Larry, David wrote the software so whatever he says, listen to him. To use the transparency model for an underbase you must "Import" the Photoshop single layer PSD file, not "Open" the file. Then you get the underbase from transparency dialog box. This is the way I do it and what I meant by it is all in the way you bring your artwork into FastRIP.

By the way, you don't want to flatten the PSD file to get a single layer, that will kill the transparency layer. You want to merge the layers down to one layer with a transparent background. (Did I say that right David?)

Mark, your description is correct.

Larry, It doesnt matter PNG or PSD although I tent to use PSD myself. But I dont think that 1.5 has the transparency feature (I cant honestly remember). You can tell be simplying importing a PSD or PNG with a transparency layer and seeing if it asks you if you want tocreate an underbase from the transparency. If it doesnt you need to upgrade.

Version 1.5.1 is a free upgrade, you can download it from
ftp://ftp.cadlink.com//OEM_/FastArtist_/FastARTIST_1.5

Use your existing LCF and INI file for your dongle or you can goto the latest and greatest and upgrade to EZ Artist and EZ RIP through Equipment Zone. This is equivalent to FastARTIST 2 and FastRIP 10.

Best regards
