How to Make Sure What Kind of Blanks I'm Getting Currently?

Hello,

I am currently getting my tees from a local manufacturer in India (I stay in India too).

The manufacturer says that the tees are 100% cotton, and I do think he's right about that. The cloth does feel very much like it.

However, when asked whether it is ring-spun, or pre-shrunk, or bio-washed (soft-washed?), etc... which most brands mention, our manufacturer is clueless about it.

So, my question how do I find out what kind of cloth I'm getting from my manufacturer?

Is there a better way to explain it to him? Any other ideas?

Thanks
:)

Hi Salman,
Let me help you out with some practical Instructions.

The manufacturer says that the tees are 100% cotton, and I do think he's right about that. The cloth does feel very much like it.

A) Take the small piece of fabric cutted out from any of the shirt randomly as sample.
B) Measure the fabric in size length & width
C) Burn it out with the lighter after burn if it will become 100% Ash then it is 100% cotton, if it wont burn or some corner may be burn rest will shrink like a plastic then it is Polyester+Cotton blend, depending upon the ratio of mixing it will become the ash after some experience i am able to find out the ratio of poly mixing without any lab test just by sample fabric size & ash-burn ratio.

However, when asked whether it is ring-spun, or pre-shrunk, or bio-washed (soft-washed?), etc... which most brands mention, our manufacturer is clueless about it.

D) Most of the so called 100% cotton fabric usually happen to be the ring spun, further just check the yarn carefully or look deeply at external side of the fabric give it a hand feel Combed cotton refers to the removal of short fibers. When only the long fibers are used, it creates a softer, smoother yarn, at the other hand ring spun is made up with the mixture of short & long fibers. i usually find it out by the finishing of overall texture of the fabric combed is smooth & soft, spun is little rough & abrasive.

Hope it will help you finding the right direction.

for your kind understanding about the fabrics i am attaching you a pic of what i manufacture it is called the mirco fiber cotton feel polyester 100% . it has nothing to do with the cotton but it looks like a combed cotton until it is checked carefully.

We are selling blanks across India.
If you need a fabric test just send me fabric swatch , I can do a lab test and send you a report.

Ash burn test will show you the polyester content but for other parameters you need a lab test.
We always give spec sheet for our clients. We feel that should be genuinely showcased to the customers.
