I have been considering the purchase of a DTG for about a year and have been scouting this forum and other resources for information so that when I made the jump, I would be well informed. As it turned out, I ignored all of what I had learned and didn't go with a machine from a store that came with training and warranty etc. While I felt like it was the better move to buy from a retailer, I ended up taking on a machine from a shop closing its doors. They had a tech give it a full service (replaced the print head and print feed system etc) and I'll be setting it up in my shop as soon as next week.

So now while I helped out a guy in need of cash and saved myself (in theory) a chunk of money, I don't get the benefits of training. So my question is, what options do you guys recommend for getting some basic training? Are there good videos, web sites, or in person training available from reliable retailers or sources out there that I should be ponying up some of that saved cash on?

Providing you get everything that came with the printer when it was new there should be a operational/maintenance/trouble shooting manual, some instructional CD/DVDs that they should have,a CD for the RIP and a manual on it's basic functions and possibly a dongle for the software authentication.

With these you should be able to familiarize yourself with the printer and software, you could maybe hire the person who was running it for the company (that you bought it from) to give you a day or so training, or contact a reseller like Equipment Zone and inquire about training, or just roll the dice and ask here in the forum as you come across issues.

One thing is for sure you will need to build a alliance somewhere with a vendor, you will need ink, supplies, and replacement parts eventually.

Good luck in your venture.

It does come with all original software and cds (or so I am told that they are all there, I didn't inventory them when I looked at the machine, I was more focused on it). So that should get me started. The person who operated it is no longer available to help, which is why they are closing down. I am looking at possibly getting a pre-treatment machine, so maybe I should look at a retailer that can help me on that front as well as ink and ask them about training services.

Thank you for the input.

Eric if your on or close to the east coast you should contact Equipment Zone, or if your in the west you should contact American Screen Supply

Here's their web sites..

American Screen Supply - Best Prices on Inkjet Film and DTG Products!

Direct-to-Garment Printers, Ink, Parts & Support | Equipment Zone | Screen Printing Equipment, DTG, Heat Transfer Presses

Either of these companies can help you with training, supplies, tech support, or they can steer you to someone closer to you that can help.

Hope this helps.

Did you still need some training and how is your machine working? I wouldn't trust T Biz Network. Mr. Fresner owns that and we all know how bad he screwed us over. I still have a junk Blazer he sold me. Still paying a nice $800 a month for it and it doesn't work at all. Funny thing is though I fix T Jets now and refurb them pretty easy so there were more than serious issues with my blazer. He also took money from a customer and didn't ship a blazer and we have proof of that. This guy lost out on $25K but that's another story. So don't go to T Biz. Anyhow though if you need some tech support or training by phone I can help for a small fee and save you some cash from the other big dogs that are charging a ridiculous amount of cash.
