I'm wanting to turn a photo into a bitmap but I'm not sure what the specific increments of things need to be. Here is the breakdown:
The photo is of a wrestling- I will change it to grayscale before I bitmap it and try to adjust the lighting.

We're using 285 Mesh Screens on an automatic
When I click bitmap I'm entering in 300dpi (it's a high-res photo)
I've selected halftone screen for the method.
Next: What frequency, angle, and shape should I use. When I select elipse or circle and then zoom in, the dots are still square?
After: What do i save it as: a bmp, portable bmp, or tiff?

When I bring this into Illustrator I'll just place it and turn it into a spot color and then proceed to print. How does scaling affect this? Such as if I scale it equally to 12.5" wide?

When I print, I print at 30lpi with 45 frequency and it goes through a film rip software.

Any other tips? Thank you for all of your help!:D

If you have RIP - leave it as grayscale image and adjust blacks and whites - you want spots of 100% black and 100% white in your grayscale for screenprinting. On that mesh count you should be able to print 50 - 55lpi. Angle - 22.5
