Good evening everyone,

Let's start off by saying that I am new to printing and have only made a few sales to friends and have made shirts for gifts etc...

I would love to turn my hobby into a full-time job and I plan to keep it a side thing until it picks up. I plan to use etsy(and other sites) and local event for self promoting my own line of shirt while finding wholesale clients for my consistent income.

When putting the numbers together, I would have to sell hundreds and hundreds of shirts(at wholesale prices) to break even with my current job. Fyi, my wholesale price is 2x my material cost and retail would be 2x the wholesale price.

My question is, am I missing any other form of income that screenprint shops generate income from or do they really produce large amount of shirts to be profitable even with team of employees?

I just can't imagine finding new clients consistently for months and months but I have not tried so that is why I need your help! Shine some light on this newbie

Don't give up the day job!

Seriously though, if you need to print 'hundreds and hundreds' of shirts to make a basic living, have you considered how much you'd need to stock? Depending on sizes, colors, materials and styles this can be a HUGE initial outlay.

Yea I won’t haha and maybe it was an over exaggeration.. I would need to sell 144 shirts at wholesale a month to break even with my day job.

It seems possible but I’m worried about the acquisition of new clients after say a year and you’ve exhausted your leads your city has to offer.
