Hi there!

I've posted on here a few times and appreciate everyones input! You guys have been so helpful!

How do I achieve the look of this screen print? Sketch something first and scan it? Is this using grey ink? Not black, correct? I love the sketch look to this but don't really know how to go about it.

Sketch with pencil. Scan high res.

Print black ink with fine halftones (or DTG).

If you have access to a DTG, these type of sketches look amazing. We used to screen print a lot of this type of thing for a client, and one day did a sample on DTG - customer requested change to DTG and has never looked back.

Hi Brad, thanks for the input. I had to look into what DTG was... and I am just interested in doing screen printing for fun right now, ie. in my condos bathroom and kitchen.

In that case go with treefox's recommendation, and run through a higher mesh count to hold the fine details.

Or, mix up more of a graphite colored ink to have it be even more real looking.
And yes, use high mesh. I'd go with 305, myself.

A local artist I met recently did an oversize, at home, no press, using 6 screens, all monochrome. Was amazing. I offered him $60 for one shirt but he's selling them for more and actually getting his asking price.

Probably an hour a shirt, though.
