So im starting back up a little clothing line that should be taking off this time. I talked to a store already and there willing to carry my shirts. My only problem is i dont know what to charge for shirts and i could use some help in marketing them as well.

Ive been tempted to make some kind of profile online to share with friends now to help get the design out there. Good idea or wait for something to get printed first?

Am also in the process of buying a domain name and the rights to my companies name but not sure how needed that is.

Anyways the guy i am currently talking to has a min. order of at least 20 shirts... Which will cost me $200. I was thinking about charging the store $250 at this time to make some cash off of it. But am not sure if i should just sell the design instead.

If the shirts sell for $15 then the shops only making $50 right now for holding my shirts at a price of $250. But will make $150 if they sell for $20.

Could really use some suggestions on what i should do with all this right now.

Generally, your wholesale price you sell to retailers is about 50% of the retail cost since retailers generally like to mark up the products by at least 100%.

More information selling to retail stores can be found here: retailers related topics at T-Shirt Forums

Sounds like a good idea. Can you share some reasons why you wouldn't you want to get more exposure your design?

It's probably a good thing to do to make sure it's yours. Right now (until Aug 31, 2010), you can register a .COM domain name through Godaddy.com for .99 cents. Even at the regular price of ~$10 a year, it's still a good investment in your company.

You may want to take the same design to a few different printers and ask for quotes (or check with printers online).

The pricing you get will depend on the number of colors in your design and the quantity you run, so you may get a better deal for printing more t-shirts.

Depending on how many t-shirts the store wants to order, it may make more sense to put in a larger order and get a better price per shirt (increasing your profit margin per t-shirt sold)

If the t-shirts sell for $15, the shop is going to want to buy them from you for $7.50 or less. If the t-shirts retail for $20, the shop will want to generally want to buy them from you for $10 or less.
