How long can I leave Pretreatment in a HPLV Spayer? Can pretreatment clog the spayer nozzle if left in for to long? Another noob question. Is it ok to store a 50% pretreatment 50% water mixture?

Thanks

We print daily even if just 3 for white ink flow. We clean fridays and do the sprayer as well. We do our speedtreater after a longer run (10 and up means turn on the speedtreater) and don't let that sit.

We make 50/50 in a plastic container with a a lid and it seems to store okie dokie for as long as the 100%. Shake it before use we do, as well as the 100%.

not long think of it like glue, we clean and sometimes filter the pretreat to prolong the life of the HPLV Sprayer. We find daily mainteanence to be a key is good pretreatment flow

Yes, again consider it glue.

Since, pretreat is a vital step in the DTG process we don't dilute the pretreat since its formulated to work with the ink at full strength.

It's very simple to take the hopper off of the sprayer and just run some distilled water through it. You do not have to empty the hopper...but you do want to be sure that any pretreatment in it is always mixed well and any pretreatment you have in stock is agitated to reduce settling.

When I clean out our spray guns, I also use a toothbrush to scrub the nozzle before and after flushing with distilled water.

You are right you don't "have" to empty the hopper, but shaking it up isn't going to prevent this (see attached picture)

Yes, this was from the pretreat this why we "have" to filter out the pretreat after shaking.

Imagine that suck in your sprayer!

We recommend, at the end of each week, pouring the pretreatment out of the spray gun container into another container. Then fill the spray container with hot water and spray the gun for about 2 to 3 minutes. Empty the water and pour the pretreatment back into the container. This helps keep the gun's plumbing clear.

Michael-

Just use precaution, these are all recommendations but take it from an END USER keep the gun clean and you can prolong the life of the sprayer.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

I have been cleaning out my spayer after every use. I have been using the spayer with a 50% Pretreat 50% water solution and when I am done I pour whats left into a plastic bottle. Then I put warm water into the hopper and run the sprayer for a few seconds to push the rest of the solution through the sprayer. After that I empty the hopper so for the next use all I have to do is shake the pre-mixed pretreatment then add it to the hopper and I am ready to run. This has been working well for me so I will continue to use this method. My only conncern now is that is it ok to store the mix the pretreatment and water as long as I shake daily?

The suggested use by time for white pretreatment is six months. If you are shaking the mixture daily I do not see any problem.
