I think all of us every once in a while has a design they press that does not stick right. Maybe one corner lifts up as you peel the paper off. Maybe you see a part that looks "puffy" and when you inspect it find it's not pressed right.

When that happens to me with Plastisol transfers, almost always I just put parchment paper over the area and press it again. That normally does the trick. But since that does happen once every 2-4 dozen times, that got my thinking, just how do you really know when a design is pressed right?

How do you know that most of your transfers have a part of them not really pressed right and will come off in the first wash? How do you know most of your designs just barely stuck right? How do you know when you re-press a part of the design it will really stay?

I'm just concerned about how we really don't know just how well each design we do is pressed, and the only way we will know is after the customer washes the shirt a few times. By then it's too late and you have an angry customer. Is there any real way to know your design is really pressed good and right?

You don't unless you want to do wash tests on every order you produce.

Test, refine, test. Then trust in your method, equipment and supplies.

You should not be getting a failure rate of 1 out of 24 plastisol transfers by the way. Sounds like either press temp/pressure issues or transfer manufacturing issues.

The ONLY failure we've ever had on plastisol transfers is when we've pressed them upside down.

The ones I have problems with are the mass produced transfers you see sold at all the big name transfer places. The damn things don't work half the time, with dried out ink that will not come off the transfer no matter what you do.

I found a local place that makes fresh transfers for me that always peel off like hot butter, no problems at all. It's actually FUN to press with these. But every damn time I buy a popular design from any of the big, well known transfer places half don't work. So I know it's the transfers, not me.
