Hey Everyone!

I'm back to hit you guys with a few more questions!

Before we get into that, here's a little about what we're doing and what we at Baremelon are looking for.

We're currently using the Epson r2000 printer for printing our films for exposure. The quality so far is great! And I have no complaints.

We use water based inks for all our tees which go on sale on our website.

We're getting more and more designs which require halftone printing, but aren't too sure how to get into it.

Firstly, As far as i researched, I think i need a printer which supports Postscript.

- How do i find out if my Epson r2000 has postscript?

- If it doesn't support postscript, how do i move forward? What RIP software(s) should I use to be able to print halftone?

Any and all help will be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

You need a RIP. Ghostscript is free. Download Ghostscript and Ghostview. You need a postscript printer driver. Corel has a postscript driver installed: "Device independent postscript file". Or you can download a postscript driver such as the HP 4MV. You don't have to have that printer, just a driver to set lpi, angle, etc.
Once the design is complete, click print, choose the ps driver, set lpi, angle, etc., click Print to File, then save the .ps file. Open Ghostview, open the .ps file, and you are ready to print. God Bless.

Thank you Ole Jobe!

Really do appreciate your quick reply.

I shall try this out tomorrow at the office and get back :)

Thanks once again!

I have similar setup, having an Epson R2400 printer. Although I am using a Mac.

I have found I don't need to setup ghostscript to print to file. In Photoshop there is an option when saving as a pdf to save as postscript file. You still need GhostView like above, but when you open ghost view there is an awesome tool "convert PS to PDF" which then allows you to print from acrobat instead of GhostView (which i found to be very confusing to print from).

you might not use mac like me, but anyone else out there who is and didn't know might find this useful.
