I am trying to create a single letter logo with the collegiate outline font. I want it to be a two-tone letter, like I've seen a thousand times before, but I don't know how to create it. It needs to be a capital letter with a diagonal line through the center of it that divides the two colors. It will be a capital L that has an orange outline top that allows the color of the shirt to show through, but is solid orange on the bottom. I want to do this first in vinyl as a sample, then to be able to screen print it. Is this an effect to create in any font, or is there a font that automatically does this? Please help.

Sounds like what the OP described. One 'long cut' way is draw a diagonal line and use the magic wand. Any shortcuts?

Convert to curves. Group the objects. Change fill properties. Or use tranparancy. Or powerclip an object inside the group two make your two tone.

Power clipping would've worked but it wouldn't give you the layered colors for doing vinyl.
