In college, i would go to a kinkos type place and make photocopies that would print out in dots to make screen printing photos easier, how do you do that? i cant remember, is there a setting on the copier?

I've never personally done this on a photocopier, but I would suggest you try looking for and experimenting with "halftones" and/or "grayscale" settings.

we use a laser jet with post script options to print the dots for screen printing photos
