Sorry for the late reply, but could I achieve the same look with a vinyl cutter?
depends on what you want your end product to look/feel like and the cost (materials, time, overhead) will be in the different methods of imprinting the design.

if you are going to do the one design multiple times then it would make sense to print it silk screen.

if you are only going to do 3 shirts here, three shirts there then vinyl would be the answer.

silkscreen is the better looking end result BUT when it comes to money the customer gets what they pay for and i'm not going to burn a screen, set it up, mix ink for someone that 'has a dream' to do their own tshirt line and is going to sell millions of shirts, yet comes to you to do 3 shirts.
