Who says they are getting around copyright? Just because they are using an image does not mean they are doing so legally.

Perhaps they are licensed. Otherwise, they are taking the risk of getting sued for copyright or trademark infringement. They are not doing anything special to avoid legal issues. If they are not licensed, it's probably just a matter of time that they get caught. Rather than spend time on figuring out what other companies are doing, just focus on what you want to do. Then do plenty of research to make sure you are not violating any IP laws. When in doubt, create your own original art instead of knocking off existing works.

Given the quantity of copyright holders they are using protected property from and with at least two of them being heavy hitters that do not give out licenses, I would speculate that they have just not been caught yet and no one has turned them in to Ebay.

Most all sellers on Ebay that sell officially licensed items state the fact that they are licensed. I believe Ebay even requires that statement.

They are also located in the UK so it may be easier to get away with it on Ebay UK. Here in the States it would only take about 5 minutes to get pounded on.

Heck turn them in to Ebay UK, Disney, Warner, Marvel and see if they stay up and running. That will let you know if they actually have licensing for use of the images.

The seller in the link the OP purchased is using a Versacamm similar to what we have so these designs are screen printed. I would bet he is not licensed to produce the artwork he is advertising. Karma is in his future most likely.

The operation looks too big to miss notice, so my inclination is to think that they have paid the proper licensing. But if they haven't, Disney will poop all over their parade--they don't miss stuff like this, not for long. Years ago they even came down on a local person here who hand painted Disney characters and sold them in person at a weekend market (no advertising of any kind).
