hotronix fusion issue (yellowing)

hi,

I got an issue with heat-pressing white tee-shirts.

heat hotronix fusion (last model)
100% cotton tee-shirt (with DTG printing)
Temp/Time/Pressure: 330°F/90s/2PR
with or without silicone paper (above)
with or without teflon (above)

each time the tee-shirts are yellowing, scorching a "little bit" on the pressed area (it's visible)

I've tried to reduce the timing to 60s, the temperature 250°F, 275°F... the yellowing is still present

Do you have any solution solution to avoid this yellowing on white tee-shirts.

thanks for your help

Regards
kim

is this during heat press application or pre-pressing??
during curing of tee-shirt (after DTG printing)

I've put the pressure to 0PR, it's a little bit better but yellowing is still visible
what we do is..

hover (flash) for 30 seconds @ 350 (no paper)

press for a 60 seconds (with release paper) make sure the release paper is the same size as the bottom of the press it needs to cover the entire shirt

Here is what we use .. you can get almost 60 uses per sheet before you need to replace it

Just out of curiosity what brand of shirt?
I've tried 3 brands:

AAA = worst yellowing
Gildan = little better
Fruit of the loom = little better

but the "brigh yellow" is still present..

thank you
thanks fatkat,

what do you mean by "hover (flash) for 30 seconds @ 350 (no paper)" ?

I will try your release paper..

thank you
hover (the press does not touch the shirt) this is a flash helps cure the ink

is the paper covering the entire shirt?? the only time we see yellow is during pre-press if we leave it on too long..since its direct contact
You will notice the yellow immediately after the pressing, but it should go away once the shirts sit for a little. Is the yellowing still there after a little while?
I just reread your OP you are pressing too long on white.. you need to press (full pressure) for one minute for every layer of color ..flash (hover) for 30 seconds.

since you are doing white (usually one layer of color) you would only need one minute full pressure

yes silicone paper is covering all the tee-shirt

I will try this method : 1min 330°/0 or 1 or 2 pressure + 30s (hover)

thank you for the info

fatkat, your method greatly reduce the yellowing.. there is a still light yellow thought..

I will try to find an additionnal solution..

I will do a wash test now to see if everything is ok
Okay sounds like it might be the brand of shirt. I have been DTGing for two years, and if I don't use Port and Company white t's I get yellowing... I cure white on 320 degrees for 60 seconds and I use Parchment paper for curing not silcone paper. You can buy parchment paper at you local grocery store's baking section.
