Did you ever find your answer. I want to do the same thing??
A plotter is more referred to as a vinyl cutter. Hp design jet is a printer. Yes this printer can print on sticker material and you can cut by hand.
but i have heard mixed things about the ink not lasting in the weather? i am looking for a printer that will print on sticker material and hold up in the weather, but i dont have a lot of money. i dont care if it is a huge print area. any suggestions
You could use the Designjet with laminating after printing. But what you are looking for, i think, is a eco-solvent printer or latex printer such as mimaki, mutoh or roland (latex = hp or mimaki). You can look at ebay for a second hand printer perhaps printer-cutter combination. These printer are the right solution for outdoor printing.
