Can someone please help me with this design, maybe I've been working on it to long or just over thinking it. I need the design to cut as appears with the shirt being red in color and just having the circle outline with the eyes and mouth in black, but when I go into view wireframe it only shows the circle (for the face) being on line, I beleive I would need it to be 2 lines to cut as appears. Am I correct and if so how does this happen?

Also, try converting your outlines to objects (Shft-Ctrl-Q).

JmJ. You are correct. You are on the right track by checking your art in wire frame mode to see if they are ready to cut. There are several ways to correct the issues you are having. First of all when designing for vinyl cutting the rules are completely different from standard print designing. The 2 most important things to keep in mind are. (1). Don't overlap your elements this creates Intersecting lines which makes weeding way more difficult and time consuming and affects the overall quality and durability. It can also complicate the application. (2) Avoid outlines becuase they are not true shapes they are rendered elements that will not be recognized by CNC software and equipment. There are several ways to address the outline issue.
The suggestion by HumJohn to convert outline to object is a good one. However I prefer using the contour feature becuase it usually makes cleaner lines and doesn't have the issues outlines have with corners. the steps for the large circle that makes up the face is as follows. Get rid of the outline, next use your contour tool and click on the circle. For your contour settings choose "outside" for number of steps choose "1" and for contour offset choose the thickness you want the outline to be. For color choose the color you want for your ouline. Thats it. The ouline you created is a solid object. You can even take it a step foward and break the contour group apart select both objects and select back minus front. you now have just the outline as an object ready to cut. Hope this helps Just remember use your outline mode. every line you see should be part of a closed loop If you have open ended lines you know you will have issues when you try to cut. JmJ I forgot to mention how you address The overlapping elements issue. You use your weld feature. There are a couple of things to keep in mind when welding one is you cannot weld an outline with an object so don't use outlines. second break your contour groups apart before you weld as corel will weld "all selected objects" and you will lose smaller elements if they are selected along with the elements you are trying to weld. I know it sounds confusing, but having an understanding of the process will help you in the long run with issues such as going from program to program which all seem to have different terminology for the exact same feature.

Another way to make the face circle (similar to what art was saying) is to create a circle (with no outline), fill it (black), then duplicate the circle (or hit the + sign as a shortcut. Then reduce the new circle in size (hold shift and drag it smaller as a shortcut) until the difference in circle sizes is the desired "outline" size...go to "arrange", then select "shaping". Select the smaller circle and in the shaping box, select "trim" in the drop down box (uncheck both "leave original:"). Then click the larger circle. This should leave you with a hollow circle. Thanks for all the advice, I've been playing with it and it seems to be working just have not had a chance to cut it. One thing I do not understand in 2 of the replies it says create a circle or line with not outline, how is that done. I love this forum every day I learn something new. I just received my button making equipment, so now I'm working on McCain/Palin things. Does anyone have this type of equipment if so any suggestions would be great. Last night I worked for hours creating artwork but I can not get a picture to crop. I guess I need to find a place that offers Corel training for dummies Thanks for the advice.

In the outline pen dialog, select "none" as the outline width. Or select the object and hit F12 then select "none"...OR most simply, select the object and in your color palette, right click the no fill (the box with an "X" in it).

What version of Corel are you using? Do you have Corel Photopaint?

Or to crop in Corel, select the image and click on the "shape tool" next to the select tool. Or click the image and hit F10 then drag the corners to where you want them cropped. Remember if you hold shift you can select 2 (or more) corners at a time.
