I just purchased an Epson Artisan 1430 and a CIS Pigment ink system. We were told that the 1430 would work with the same system as the 1400. Is this true? We did the install and now we are getting an error message saying that he printer does not recognize the cartridges. We checked with the person we purchased the cis from he verified that the chips were indeed 79's which were the same for the 1400. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be? Is there something different in the 1430 that we don't know about?:(

Newer models of the Stylus Photo 1400 don't even work with older versions of auto reset chips, so I'm sure Epson has added more firmware lockouts to try to block even the newest reset chips. The Artisan 1430 is so new I'd be surprised if they even have any that work well yet.

Of course it's always possible you have a defective chip or defective printer.

hello we had the same issue and we had to a buy an ink system for the 1430 its self i know it makes no sence but it now works. The only issue we have is that the cyan clogges CONSTANTLY, it takes sometimes 50 head cleanings to fix the issue and then within a week it happens AGAIN! its very frustrating so if i were you id invest in a new printer to save the time of fixing it every week.

I have the exact problem your having. When I bought the printer I also bought a CIS from Gigablockshop and the printer will not recognize the cartridges, I've got an entire day invested in trying to get the printer to recognize the cartridges, to no avail. The box the CIS came in is marked Stylus 1400 and the seller won't respond to my e-mails, so tomorrow or the next day I'll try putting it on my photo stylus 1400.

I bought the Pigment Ink CIS system and installed it. It worked well for 2 print jobs. After that it started printing only in yellow and green. I ran the check on it and didn't know it used a lot of ink to do that. Now my cartridges are at 1/2 full and I can't get it to print anything at all now. Can anyone help? I JUST started this heat transfer/printing thing and this is very confusing! I can't find anything that tells me what to do!

Thanks!!!!

The 1430 and the 1400 use different chips. I got my system from Ink Jet carts and Ross has been great with tech support. I use all black but I have had no problems with this system. If your cleaninf heads that much you will fill the damper system very quickly. Maybe someone on here that uses this system and knows it well will help y'all out.

Don't know if this will help but when my 1430 does not recognize the ink carts First check to see they are firmly in the machine. You do have to push them in a bit. then press the ink button. the carts will go left to right then stop. on the top of my carts is a little white button i press. then i press the ink button again and it goes through a charge. hope this helps someone.

I had the same issue. Wasted hours of trouble shooting. I've given up on the bulk ink systems. I purchased 3 and no worked for the following printers

Epson 1430
Canon ix6520
Canon ix8720

After wasting my money I found the cartridges on ebay really cheap

40 cartridges for $30-40 - Cant beat it no issues with clogging

We print 400-500 inkjet tranfers 11x17 a month
