Here is the part of the business I am struggling with.....had a first time customer come in today wanting a quote on 12 shirts. I will attach his logo which is super easy.

He would like the shirts as follows:

Large logo on back with phone number added

Small chest logo no phone ( as it appears)

US Flag on one shoulder

Problem I am running into is screen fees, ink consumption and consumables. I do know my over head etc ?

3 screens for large back
3 screens for front pocket
3 screens for us flag on shoulder

Even at $20 a screen that's $180 +approx $42 for shirts plus consumables

So like $250 for 12 shirts seems crazy, and wouldnt be making a ton...any help is appreciated and am gratful for any advice given.

When the design allows, we put the left chest print and back print on the same screen. You may be able to put the flag on those same screens as well, but I didn't open the image so not sure.

The problem as I see it is that your customer only wants 12 pieces.
Explain to them what the set up charges are for and why they are billed.
If they are a potential good customer moving forward, you might consider waiving a portion of those set ups just to get them in the door.
But if you consider that your client wants 12 tee shirts with multi color prints in three locations...$20/ea. is not an unreasonable price.
Another option would be to sell him on 1 color versions of the logos to reduce his set ups.
Good luck.

So you tape up the larger back to use the small and vice versa?...
Yes, but as said 12 is low for a multi color/location shirt.

We would do them in heat transfer film and call it a day.
The design is simple and wont have much different feel then screen printed.
You can give them a better price in this case and a faster turn around as well.
