Hi Guys,
I need pricing help for my first 2 orders:
order # (1)
a. 300 white t-shirts ($2.50 each)
b. 3-color print (70% black & 30% red/yellow)
c. 7"x10" area size with 30% ink coverage
d. front print only
price per t-shirt = ?

order # (2)
a. 36 dark color t-shirts (3.50 each)
b. 1-color print
c. 8"x11" area with 35% ink coverage (total for front & back)
d. front & back prints
price per t-shirt = ?

My innocent guess: order #1 ($8 each), order #2 ($8-9 each). All including t-shirt.
thank you. :)

If you can make money at your guess go with it. Asking here may give you some insight but the bottom line is what I can do a job and make money the guy down the road may loose money or be able to do cheaper than me and still make the same profit margin. Figure out your cost. what profit margin you need to be at come up with a standardized charges and stick to them.
Paulby, Good Luck on your first order. I think that Order #1 may be a bit high, but #2 seems Ok.

As for the reply from HTT130...Please refrain from being such a jerk. A question was asked and if you did not want to answer it nicely...stay off the keyboard. I have been reading t-shirt forum for about 9 months and I know people get irritated, but your remark was so far out of line. Sometimes there are some remarks AND questions that are stupid, but just dont answer. Ignore them. I think the person asking would get the hint. This forum is to help, not to make yourself look sooo much better than the next person. What right do you have to tell someone they do not belong in business. Be nice!

I don't think your that high on order #1 on a 3 color discount pricing starts at 300. White is the cheapest ....what brand are you using style.

I agree disregard the guys statement above we all started somewhere or maybe he was born with a silver spoon........or it just stuck somewhere.
Do you have any wholesale accounts outside of what a google search would turn up? Your pricing on the blanks is pretty high and will probably limit your chances of winning these bids.

One option you might want to explore would be outsourcing these jobs to a contract shop. I you're interested in pricing please send me a pm.

What kind of shirts are you using?...
I want to give the best quality to customers, any 6.1oz or better (could be Gildan, Anvil, etc. - Any recommendation?). I get them from Broder, Wholesaletshirts, Alstyle...
Thanks.
And maybe you can use your mom's oven to dry your prints. Steal some stamps from her and then you can ship the order to your customer for free.

You have no business being in business unless you can figure your costs and selling prices yourself.

I think that was totaly uncalled for this is what this site is for, to ask questions. Please do not at like a *** here.

Best would be subjective, but as fr as perceived value/quality g2000's or beefys will be fine. Even a beefy should be almost $1.00 less than what you're paying, put some pressure on your sales rep. They don't know you're new to the biz, just new to them. 300 should give you some leverage to demand better pricing.

I want to use any 6.1oz like Gildan, Anvil, etc. but I'm open for any recommendation with great quality brands & ounces. Thanks for the professional help.

Don't know where you are or how your business is structured but you should check into getting a wholesale account with at least 3 or 4 distributors. You'll save a bit on per shirt costs.
And I was just about to press the "Report Bad Post Button" but I think it should stay along with the responding "reprimands".

A little forum self-moderation makes a good statement that sometimes the kids can resolve things on their own and bullying won't escape unnoticed ;).

Thanks to those who stepped up!

That's one of the more harsh things I've heard on this site. You do realize this forum is an information source for people to learn about the business?

Your Negative opinions do nothing for the forum or this member. Would you like to add something that is constructive or informative?

As far as the Original Post.. I would personally be lower on your first order, but I can get white shirts for less than $2.50 a piece. I also do price breaks at certain quantities so that would add to the discounted price.
It is good to use us as a reference for pricing to start with, but remember that you will want to tailor your pricing to meet the needs of your company. Make sure that your pricing will allow you to cover your overheard, labor, etc. I am sure there are many people who can help you with determining minimum costs per garment and stuff like that. That's something I'm still working on after all this time :).

And also consider your general market. I'm not one to be too all fired concerned about matching or beating what the "competition" is pricing, but it is a consideration particularly so you don't underprice yourself just to get the job. You lose money and doing so you also serve to depress the overall market.

Combine a superior product, great service, establish a relationship and maybe a little higher price than local average and you'll be alright in the long term.

im wondering the same. finding it very hard to quote prices that are low enough to get the business. I lost a bid for 300 white shirts with 3 color printing on front back and one color on sleeve. the winning bid was 3.50. Mine was 6.50 and I thought that was really low.
