Help installing cartridge on printer

I just bought a cartridge for my 1390 Epson printer heads and it came with a plastic film that cover where the printer gets the ink from. Do I take it off or leave it on? Just does not seem right to leave it on. It looks like it will interfere with the seal from cartridge to printer. It is not a thin one but thick.
