If you print with sublimation on a polycotton shirt (say, 65% poly, 35% cotton) you will get that look as the sublimation ink only dyes the polyester fibres and not the cotton. The print will look perfect when first printed but will have the desaturated look when first washed. It's a useful techniwue for retro faded designs.
