just buy it from fotosearch!?!
they want 35.00 for the image. i do not use this image for footballs, and it is an order of only 25 shirts. the person that they ordered it from is out of business, and they want everyone to match. I just don't want to pay 35 for something i will never use again.

does it have to be that football? can it be another one, i Have some that I may hook you up with.

unfortunately yes, it has to be the same one. they are trying to match shirts they already have so they all look the same.
Then charge them the 35.00 and then give them the football image for future use.
If you know how to work with Illustrator, Photoshop or Corel it will be easy to re-create the design. That is if you do not want to buy it for $35.
I do have photoshop, but how would i do this? when i try to enlarge a such a small image, it becomes very blurry when i do.

In PS, the pen tools is all you need, resize your design as desired and adjust your resolution to 300dpi.

With the use of the pen tool, you can actually trace the design.

Try finding some nice tutorials on Photoshop Pen tools and you will find it very helpful tracing your design.

Here' one video I made (just to start with)... goodluck! :)

try resampleing the image to a higher dpi in increments say you have it now as 72 dpi resample to 100 then 150.... I usually go to 800 or higher then bring it to a new page set at 200 dpi and scale the image back down to fit the size you need on the 200 dpi page. Or you can trace it in Illustrator or Coreldraw. Looks like it would'nt take that long to do that way. But I agree with the other post here. If your customer is that picky about matching exactly and it's for only 25 shirts, have them pay the 35 bucks and I'd charge for your time in finding the matching artwork and setting it up for printing.
Isn't recreating/copying that football exactly without paying for it an infringement of copyrights? I wonder how many screen printers do this without a second thought. You should really pay for art you need exactly the same instead of stealing it.
that is the football!!! thanks so much guys!!! everyone has been much help!!!

I think that the word you are searching for is 'accessories':)

AH, Please, don't be so honest

Like Alvin said, buy it from fotosearch BUT don't eat the cost yourself. This is a time to add it into the cost of the shirts. The customer is in a bind because the other supplier went out of business (maybe because they ate the cost of too many graphics purchases:)). I am not advocating taking advantage of the customer but you need to cover your costs. If you don't think you will be using it ever again then work the cost into the job. If the same customer needs more later you can offer the shirts at a lower cost since your "graphic work" to match the existing shirts was covered in the first order.

Unless I have a large order with a good profit I don't do graphic recreation or purchasing for free. You have to calculate what your time is worth even for time away from the presses. If your profit is $4 per shirt for example on 25 shirts and you value your time at $25 per hr but spend two hrs recreating the artwork for the customer you just lost half your profit.

My 2 cents worth.

Ha ha, I can also recreate it on the first time but there are rules that requires much consideration which is true that you may violate infringement rights...
Who said they had the permission to create that football anyways. That football is the one they use in College and Highschool. The football has been around a lot longer then any of our current software drawing packages.

Maybe Peter Wilson's surviving heirs should sue everyone for copyright infringement for using an image of a football in any form, ie drawing, painting, capturing it on film when teams use it.

I drew a football, in black and white, that oddly enough resembles a football, that just happens to look like EVERY OTHER football, including the image in question.. oh dear.. Maybe if I drew it in brown and white there wouldn't be such controversy.

If the "owner" of said image posted can lay claim to copyright of an image of a football, then I am going to type the word "Peace" in Helvetica, in black and white, call it art, put a copyright image over.

I also will call out the company that is trying to charge an inordinate amount money for this exact image that currently is on many "free clip art" sites. The image is not unique and calling it "art" is a stretch.
That is true. The person that needs the Football artwork could also take an actual football that looks like it, and take a picture of it. Than opened it in photo shop, corel or whatever, and change it to an animated drawing.

He or she can than put their own copyright tag on it, cause now it's their picture not the original artist.
